At Vineyard Tennis Center, Workout & Spa, we are deeply committed to the island community—we are part of it! And so we host several events each year to support various island causes.
Turkey Open
The proceeds from this annual tennis tournament have gone to scholarships for the junior tennis program, the Island Food Pantry and the Vineyard Project, a program created by the Safe Haven Project that invites children diagnosed with HIV to the island for a week of community involvement and support.
7th Grade Girls’ Day
Each year, seventh grade females are invited to the center to learn all about health and fitness. The event is sponsored by the Alexandria Gagnon Foundation and promotes positive health and body image in young women.
8th Grade Boys’ Day
In response to the success of the 7th Grade Girls’ Day, the Vineyard Tennis Center, Workout & Spa created a day for island young men to learn about health and fitness as well.
Tennis Round Robin Parties
Light dinner and tennis round robins have served as the perfect fundraising venue for the Hospice and the Vineyard House.
Pro-Am Tournament
Tennis professionals joined amateurs in this fundraiser for island individuals in need of the Kevin McFarland Fund.
Relay for Life
The Workout Wonders represent the Vineyard Tennis Center, Workout & Spa in this annual fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.
Mentorships
High school students have the opportunity to enjoy doubles with our adult members. They have the opportunity to learn the strategy and etiquette of doubles.
Other high school students have become staff interns with our reception team. They can explore a career in the fitness/tennis world with our professional personnel.
Both of these opportunities for mentorships and work/study are available at no cost.
Scholarships
Every year the club offers island residents both adult and junior scholarships. Illness, job changes, family losses and other personal situations determine the need and our club responds to each situation individually.
Tennis Classes for Children
The Martha's Vineyard Public Charter School uses one of our tennis courts for their special offerings classes. Groups of children choose tennis for their 12-week instructional program at no charge.
